The rainforests of Belize hold a variety of mammals and birds. It has one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world; because of this two thirds of Belize is protected land. The longest river in Belize is the Belize River which is a center for commerce. The Belize Barrier Reef acts a protection and a source of natural resources that helps to benefit the Belizean economy. The human environment interaction in Belize is currently causing deforestation problems, water pollution from sewage, and global warming which is killing the reef and fish.
